Single Source Supplier

E-A-R offers the broadest range of energy control materials available from a single manufacturer. For nearly 30 years, we have been pioneers in energy-control technology, accumulating a wealth of applications experience.

All of this means that our solutions are on target. Never under-engineered. Never over-engineered. Our solutions may be simple—vibration isolators to mount a delicate disk drive. Or complex—a complete treatment package for luxury yachts. Or anything in between.

Back to About Us

Offering the broadest product line in the energy-control industry means that E-A-R can optimize each customer's noise, vibration or cushioning solution.

Broadest Product Lines

E-A-R manufactures a wide range of proprietary vinyl and urethane formulations. Our products include foams and solid materials, sheets, rolls and bun-stock foam, die-cut and molded parts, and multi-layer composites.

We are the industry's only supplier to manufacture all five basic material tools needed for today's complex energy control and cushioning problems:

  • Damping materials, to reduce structureborne vibrations before they produce noise
  • Isolation materials, to isolate from shock energy and structureborne vibrations
  • Barrier materials, to block airborne sound
  • Absorption materials, to absorb airborne sound
  • Cushioning materials, to provide safety, protection or comfort

Only E-A-R Specialty Composites manufactures the complete range of materials needed to provide complete and cost-effective noise, vibration or cushioning treatments in today's product designs.

In-House Production

We manufacture the materials we sell. We maintain more than 375,000 square feet of capacity in two plants and a distribution facility in Indianapolis and in Newark, Delaware, near Philadelphia.

Our manufacturing processes include:

  • Thin-sheet casting— a proprietary process for urethane and vinyl foams and solids
  • Extrusion— for solid vinyl materials
  • Injection, compression and transfer molding— for isolators and molded parts
  • Fabrication— includes laminating, die-cutting and compositing with facings and substrates.

E-A-R uses a proprietary thin-sheet method for casting urethanes, producing materials up to 60-inches wide.

Quality Service

We operate our two manufacturing plants to ISO-9001 standards and additionally our Indianapolis facility is AS-9100 certified. Our Quality Assurance procedures routinely pass both internal and ISO audits. And we can meet the demanding QA standards of customers who require just-in-time or dock-to-stock delivery.

A network of regional sales managers and manufacturers representatives complete our sales. Our applications engineers are available to consult with customers as well. Then after the sale, our customer service representatives efficiently manage every aspect. They employ a state-of-the-art computer system that provides a wealth of real-time data on inventories, orders, shipments and customer accounts. We can play an even more integral part of customers' purchasing teams, too, with electronic data interchange (EDI) link ups.

Data from in-house materials testing helps to estimate how a material will perform in a product design.

Applications Engineering

At E-A-R, meeting our customers' needs goes beyond supplying the best materials available. Our customers benefit from the technology behind those materials as well. We get involved in the problem-solving process. Maybe that means a quick phone consultation. Or an on-site visit by one of our field representatives. Or playing a role on the product development team.

Our engineering staff's extensive real-world experience and in-depth materials expertise are backed by the latest in diagnostic and testing facilities. Customers routinely send product designs to the E-A-R NOVICON noise and vibration control lab. There, our technicians diagnose and quantify problems and develop the best solutions, without costly false starts or over-engineering.
